Władysław with Corporal Stripes on the Mall in Washington, D.C. – 1952
1951 (?) — Władysław was drafted by the U.S. Army during the Korean War (in 1951?). Because he was able to read and speak five languages (Polish, Russian, German, Belarusan, and English), he was assigned to the 338th Military Intelligence Battalion at Fort Meade, MD for his entire enlistment. He was responsible mostly for translating documents written in Russian, which were captured from the Communist Chinese and North Korean forces overseas. He finished his service with the rank of Corporal.
