April 23, 1960–Walter marries Jane (Janina) Makrocka, another Polish refugee from World War II, at St. Stephen’s Church in Perth Amboy, NJ. Janina had been born in 1937 in Małyńsk, Poland (now in Ukraine) and settled with her family in Perth Amboy after the war. Like Walter, she immigrated from the D.P. Camps in Germany (at age 12 in August 1949). Walter and Jane had three children–Eva, Andrew, and Paul–eventually settling in Wallington, NJ, where they remained for the rest of Walter’s life. Walter’s brother and two of his sisters, Janina and Lydia, also married and had children. Walter, his wife, parents, and siblings are all pictured above, as well as his two older chidren, nieces, and nephews at the time. His younger son, Paul, and one of his nieces, were not yet born.
