June 2020 — The Nördlingen Stadtmuseum (City Museum) opened a special exhibit on the history of the city during World War II. The exhibit included a section on forced laborers, including a brief account of the Parfomuk family in Nördlingen, with their original registration document and a photograph of the family shortly after the war. The exhibit included a longer account of the Parfomuk family story prepared by Walter’s sons (Paul and Andrew) in a memory book. The exhibit was intended to show the local community and to help educate local school children about another side of the war in their community. Many thanks to Andrea Kugler from the museum for putting together the exhibition and for providing historic photos of Nördlingen and the exhibit photos for this web site. The memory book was also published as a German softcover book by Wilfried Sponsel, Das Ende des Zweiten Weltkrieges und die Jahre des Neubeginns in Nördlingen (1945-1950) [The End of the Second World War and the Years of a New Beginning in Nördlingen (1945-1950)] on April 28, 2020. Many thanks to the Nördlingen City Archives and the author for including the Parfomuk story in this book.
